Do Now 12/14

If I had an invisible cloak I would rob a bank. Actually a few banks, then become the richest unknown person in the world. From that i would invest in a few stocks that I know i would make more money ex: Google. Then sell my stocks and use this money to invest into scientific project to cure diseases and give money to hospitals and charities.

Discussion Questions

Questions:
  1. Why did you select the sites you subscribed to?
  2. Was it easy to find feeds and to subscribe to them?
  3. Which sites were your favorites?
  4. What else can you use RSS feeds for?
  5. How likely are you to continue to use RSS feeds in the future?

1) I selected these sites because, they were most intriguing to me. From sciences to colleges to even future career holdings for me.

2) Because I googled them and look up the pages then copied it to Digg so now its even easier to access.

3) My Favorites is the whole NEWS section because, the topics all mostly pertain to science.

4) To access sites quicker for like school/college. Can help you follow along or take notes easier.

5) To be honest I'm not likely to use this just because I'm not really tech savey.

Do Now 11/30

Who I am grateful for:

My Grandma Laurane: She basically raised and was my mother for my childhood life. She showed me the most love and always helped me. She was basically everything you can ask for in a parent and more!

My Best Friends (Madriek, Ja'von, Ja'van, Julie, Noelle):  These people make my day better, I can Literally go to them for anything and they will be there for me. Each person is special in their own was to me and each of them I can go to for select things. Either way I'm ride or die for the people and I dead*** luv them.

Wiki Dissection D.L/J.P.

What is the purpose of this Wiki?
-To explain and show readers the difference between "sustainable or disruptive technology"
When was the last post?
-June 23, 2010
How was this Wiki created/designed?
-It was created through K12 wiki and designed to look for and discuss disruptive innovations that are occurring in education and in the classroom.
What would you add to this particular wiki?
-They olny showed the disruptive innovations but not the sustainable innovations.
What did you learn after reading this wiki?
-Abosolutely nothing because, this Wiki is clearly biased and proof to my state is that they did not bother showing their "sustainable innovations."
If you had to create a Wiki with a team, what would be the specific topic (s)?
-If i had to create a topic it would probaly be a counter statement to this article
How can Wikis be used in the classroom or in education?
-My opinion is they really can't unless its a Wiki that is biased because, since Wiki's are most people based written information most seem to come off baised because the average person does not have the ability to write in both forms of Agreeing and Disagreeing in their statements or feelings.

Web 2.0: Multimedia Blog Pre-Posting

Biotechnology

Featuring my teacher, Therodore Colarusso

About Mr. Colarusso: "I have been a science teacher at WRHS for the past 19 years teaching a variety of science courses.  For the current academic year, I am teaching Biology, Honors Biology, AP Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Biotechnology and Genetics.  My education ranges from Biology and Education at Kean University, Rider College and the University of Rhode Island.  I have a passion for music and attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. I earned a masters in MAT from Marygrove College. Currently, I am involved in the following extra-curricular activities;  Assistant Director and Musical Director of our Drama and Musical.  In my spare time, I love to golf and take day trips with my son. I hope you have a terrific and meaningful learning experience in my challenging courses." (Mr. Colarusso Page)

Class Expectations: Well going into this class I did not even know what to expect from this class. The only thing I knew was that "bio-" stands cells, "-techn/o-" stands for technology, and "logy" means study of (this I actually learned through Medical Terminology). Knowing that I already knew the meaning for the class which is the study of cells through technology. While I am still currently in the class and still pursuing it, I personally feel that there is not an exact class expectation. What I mean by this is that, any Science Class can go into any topic (science related) and every class should be a brain twister; that's the joy of science (to me).

Class Teachings to Date: We started of the class in a study/debate of Embryonic Stem Cells (which is when they take fertilized eggs and use them for the regrowth of muscles, skins, cures, bones, and ect.) which for me was quiet easy because, I already had a debate on this topic in 8th grade. Then, we did a Strawberry DNA Extraction Lab which I've done three times prior to the lab. Recently, we just got our project which is on the topic of Biotechnology advancements from 1900's to recent times.

How is Technology Used in the Classroom: Sadly, we do not have much of a science room and we lack a lot of technology but we do use our laptops (Chrome Books) for research.

Author to Reader Notes: Biotechnology:

(Personally I feel like this picture describes a good example of what BioTechnology is)

Personally this topic is really interesting; I mean most of our advances in life come from Biotechnology. If you don't have this class unfortunately, you should do some self research because its quiet awesome. Here's a good link (This link talks about the importance of Biotechnology and its use to the world)

But before you learn biotechnology you have to know a basis of what Biology is: ->

Now Incorporate this with technology and you got Biotechnology. The topic that will eventually save the world!

Solar Powered Phone Chargers

Science in Technology...

"Solar energy isn’t really the newest or latest technology, but using it to charge your phone is a new concept. First thing that goes through people mind is "why would i leave my phone outside to charge." But, be a little more creative today i'm here to bring fourth the concept of Solar Power Phone Chargers.

Solar Power Window Phone Chargers
As you can see they're window chargers; yes, they actually stick to your window folks. "The XDModo Solar Charger come with an adhesive surface which sticks to any window or glass surface, allowing it to use solar energy to charge your phone while staying indoors. The 1400 mAh lithium battery in the charger uses the electricity produced by the solar energy to charge itself and then the phone. This means that the charger can give power to your phone, once the battery of the charger has been charged."

"The charger works with any phone that can charge via USB and comes with both regular and mini USB cables. The charger can be installed on any surface and the reusable silicone paper makes it easy to take off and install somewhere else. The XDModo Solar Charger is a very green way to charge your phone. It saves on energy, and with a price of  $25.95, it’s easily affordable for all of the environmental enthusiasts out there like myself."
